P. Bruce Harper

Bruce was born in Sidney, Montana, on October 25, 1942.  He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Idaho in 1964.  Upon graduation, Bruce was commissioned as a Supply Officer in the United States Navy and in due time was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant.  In 1969, Bruce resigned his commission and enrolled in the University of Montana School of Law.  Bruce served on the Montana Law Review and graduated in the top 10 in his class.  He received his Juris Doctorate in 1972 and was admitted to practice law in the State of Montana.  Bruce is an active Member of the American Bar Association where he is involved in Sections of Taxation, Real Property, Probate and Trust Law.  Bruce has also been active in the State Bar of Montana, Montana Trial Lawyers Association and American Arbitration Association (AAA).  He is a past-President of the Yellowstone Area Bar Association and the Yellowstone Valley Estate Planning Council.

Since 1972 Bruce has provided quality legal representation for individuals, families, small businesses, large businesses and family farm and ranch operations.  In January 2015, Bruce and his wife Barbara opened Doc Harper’s Tavern in downtown Billings.  Bruce now restricts his law practice to Estate Planning which includes:  Trusts of all varieties, including Grantor Trusts and Special Needs Trusts, Wills, Living Wills, Powers of Attorney, Guardianships, Conservatorships, and Probate matters.

After more than 40 years of estate planning experience, Bruce is able to simplify the estate planning discussion.  “Keep it simple” is Bruce’s motto.  In a single 50-60 minute office conference, Bruce will identify and explain the documents essential to your estate plan.  No fee is charged for the initial conference unless you hire us to prepare your documents.  Most trust agreements are short and simple, i.e., 8-10 pages.  Most estate plans, including plans with a Grantor Trust, are drafted, reviewed, approved and executed in 2-4 weeks; sooner, if necessary.  And you are not left to figure out alone how to fund your Trust.  We will do that together.
